Flowers in Church

We have fresh flowers most Sundays at St. Mark’s (except during the seasons of Advent and Lent). They are an important way in which our Worship space is enhanced – bringing a sense of God’s creation through their colour and beauty.

During our Worship the arrangement is located on the dais and afterwards placed in the Front Entrance or the Chapel.

We have additional flowers in Church on Mothering Sunday, Easter Sunday and on other festivals.

At St. Mark’s there is a small, dedicated Team who purchase and arrange the flowers for us each week. This is an area of ministry which allows creativity to be developed and expressed and in which working alongside others brings a real sense of satisfaction in enhancing the Church.

We have a Flower Fund which helps to maintain the tradition of fresh flower arrangements in Church. Anyone can contribute and we welcome individual donations to celebrate anniversaries of birthdays, weddings and special events, as well as marking anniversaries of the deaths of loved ones. These anniversaries are marked weekly on a notice in the Chapel.

If there is a particular anniversary you would like to mark with flowers at St. Mark’s. please complete the form, detailing the anniversary(ies) you would like to mark, and send it with your cheque, made out to the ‘St. Mark’s PCC’, to the Parish Administrator, The Parish Office, St. Mark’s Church Centre, Archers Road, Southampton, SO15 2LU. There is also a Standing Order Form you can use, so that the flower memorial you make continues automatically each year.

If you’re interested in joining the Flower Team contact Wendy Bathard who leads this ministry at St. Mark’s.
